A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

This blog will contain photos taken for the Computer Graphics II class project.

Photographers!

For this project, we were recorded to learn a little about five different photographers. Here are their names and some of my favorite images from their collections.

This first image comes from Tom Grissman.  I really like this image because it looks very natural and I love the scenery. I love to take photos that are strong but have very little coloring. Pictures like this are very nice to look at and can represent many different things and tell many different stories.

I really love this photo from Samantha Mastropolo. It is very nice and looks like it comes straight out of some famous magazine. This picture is nice because of the lighting and angle. Everything about the girl stands out and looks creative. The outfit in this photo could be sold because of the whole scene. All of her photos were really nice.

Honestly, I hated the photos taken by J. D. Small. I do not even know what this picture is. I did not like any of his photos. They were a mess! I would never go to visit his site for good pictures because they are not creative at all. The pictures were weird and uncategorized.

This picture is really nice to me because it looks timeless. It was taken by Bill Schwob. It does not have an age and you can not predict which year it was taken. The angle and the lighting on the picture were great. The picture is not boring or anything. The photograher takes okay pictures but this was the best out of the bunch.

I loved Scott Baker's photos. They were all very creative and unique. His pictures were up to date and appealing to all ages. He was the most creative and urban photographer. He took great city pictures and showed city life from all angles.

The Conventional Camera!

The remaining five pictures were taken using a conventional camera. As a group we decided that it would be smarter to buy one camera and split among the group a certain number of pictures to take using one camera. The following are my five best pictures continuing the theme of "Animals".

This first picture is of two zebras. The scenery is very nice as well as the lighting on the picture. However, I do not like the fact that the zebras seem so far away. If you do not look close enough to the pictures you almost loose them. It would have been nice to have a zoom on the conventional camera, especially at a place like the zoo.

This second picture is of a cow. I took this picture because the cow was not paying attention and he looked regular. I really like this picture because the cows color stands out and there is notihng else really overshadowing him. I also like the angle of this cow because it allows his whole body to be shown. Surprisingly the hay is also shown and has a different color that stands out.

This third picture is of prairie dogs The prairie dogs are very small so it is hard to seem them. Once again the surroundings took the attraction from the animals. However, the lighting on the pictures is good as well as the color. This picture is also good because of the position of the animals.

This picture is of two llamas. This picture was difficult to take because they were caged up and I had to bend down between the cracks to take pictures, The lighting on the llamas looks good though because they have a spotlight on them. It makes them seem like the object of the picture. This picture is sad to me because the animals do not look happy and they do not have much freedom.

This picture, my final picture is of a girl carrying animals back into  their "rooms." I remember trying to hurry and take this picture because the girl and the animals were coming into the room very fast and she asked me and my group to please move out of th way. It was scary because we did not know what was going on. This picture is nice because the light is shining on her and the animals and then it goes down towardst he back of the room.

I really enjoyed taking these picture and I hope you enjoyed looking at them. Please leave comments, they are highly appreciated!

Animals Gone Wild!

In our Computer Graphics II class, we were assigned to take ten photos. Five of these photos had to come from a digital camera and the other five from a conventional camera. The following five photos were taken at the National Zoo in Washington, DC using the digital camera. The theme of this album is simply “Animals.”

I thought that animals would be a good theme because they are naturally beautiful and are great in photos. Animals have a natural rhythm and great vibes about them that you cannot find in most people or places.

This first image is of a tiger walking. Since it was taken using a digital camera, I was able to zoom in on the tiger which was actually pretty far away. There was not much that I needed to do to enhance the photo, but since I did not want the tiger to faded away I put the spotlight on him while editing. I find the picture very unique because I feel it represents what the tiger may be feeling. He is calm but only because he does not have much to do. He is stuck between large walls for display. The only decisions he can make is whether to jump in the water or run on the small hill.

This next image is of a panda. Before the picture was edited to black and white, the grass was a dirty green color and there were branches and things laying around. The environment did not look very healthy at all for the panda in my opinion. The black and white helped to erase those things and also helped to show the beauty of the panda beyond everything in its surroundings. The black and white create a sense of independence for the panda and allow his glow to stand out.

This third picture is of otters. Otters are not something that most people think about when discussing animals. I find this picture to be very beautiful. It shows the otters playing and communicating with each other. This picture is also unique because out of the other ten this was the only one selected from the pictures that I took from the outside of glass. I did not think that it would look once the flash hit the glass but it turned out really nice. The only think that I did was change the scene to scenic which made the picture brighter.

The King Of The Jungle! This image is of the fiercest animal in the jungle, a lion. For this picture I zoomed in, to get closer to the animals face. This is a great shot because he was sitting on top of a hill lying there like he had nothing else to do but watch over everything. He was one of the only animals that did not move or look shy. For this picture I adjusted the lighting and brightness and increased the contrast. The picture is also nice because it looks like it has been colored in by crayon.

The last and final picture for the digital images is of elephants. This picture is very unique because it looks timeless. This photo was edited by simply changing the scenery from its original to sepia. This gave the image its gray color and spotlighted the elephants. This was great for this photo because the walls were gray and another dark color so it took away from the elephants shine. Also the grass was too bright in the picture.

Overall, the digital photos came out really nice. There were many images to choose from but these were the top five. Feel free to comment on anything that you may or may not like about these images. Thanks!
